TOEFL or IELTS scores must be submitted by students whose native language is not English and who do not have a bachelor's or postgraduate degree from an institution where English is the exclusive language of instruction. The scores cannot be more than two years old from the date of matriculation. The minimum required TOEFL score is 550 on the Paper-Based Test (PBT), 213 on the Computer-Based Test (CBT), and 80 on the new internet-Based Test (iBT). The official score must be submitted directly from ETS to UCR. Request that ETS send your score electronically to UCR.
The minimum overall IELTS score is 7 with score no lower than 6 on any individual component. This exam must be taken within two years of the time you intend to enroll at UCR. Please request an official Test Report Form (TRF) of your IELTS.

The GRE General Test is required for all M.A. candidates. GRE scores must be submitted by the testing facility. The minimum expected score is 1100 (verbal and quantitative scores combined) or 300 in the new scale. Test scores may not be more than five years old.
