24Tuition is paid automatically by Laney Graduate School for all students admitted to the Anthropology PhD program, as long as the student remains in good academic standing (see notes below regarding exceptions to eligibility). Athletic facility, computer, mental health, and activity fees are not paid by the Graduate School nor by the program, and are the responsibility of the student. Tuition and fees are assessed for each semester of enrollment (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Please note that the amount for the various academic fees not covered by the tuition scholarship may vary from year to year. See annual merit award and fee schedules on the LGS website.
TOEFL scores are NOT required for admission to the Anthropology PhD program.

Our program has no absolute standard or minimum for GRE scores, since we consider all parts of the application as a unique constellation. However, low GRE scores often have a negative impact on an application unless complemented by other factors, such as high grades, exceptional letters of recommendation, or special personal background. Students who have trouble with standardized tests are urged to study for the GRE in advance and take the test early enough to ensure the possibility of retaking the exam.
