Although the philosophy department does not require the TOEFL in order to consider non-native English speakers for the program, the TOEFL is required by Graduate Admissions in order to enroll at the university.

USC Philosophy requires the GRE as a part of graduate admissions. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, however, this year applicants can be admitted without taking the GRE. Applications without a GRE score will not be subject to any negative presumption. Students who do not submit GRE scores, but are admitted, and enroll in our program must still take the GRE exam at a point early enough for their results to be received by the Graduate School no later than the end of their first semester in our program.
